William Edouard Scott collection, 1930-1960.

Collection consists of clippings, diplomas and certificates, and news clippings documenting Scott's artistic endeavors. Personal papers include agreements for works to be done in the District of Columbia by Scott, 1943; and letters between Scott and Florida A & M College regarding work done by Scott for them.

William Edouard Scott was born in Indianapolis in 1884. He moved to Chicago and attended the School of Art Institute of Chicago. During his time in Chicago he painted murals around the city, one of which was Commerce, which is still lauded today as remarkable.
